Scholarships available for those with military ties

Deadlines are approaching to apply for scholarships available to people with military connections.

DECA

The Defense Commissary Agency has a Scholarships for Military Children Program.

Applications: Available in commissaries worldwide and online at militaryscholar.org.

Deadline: Friday.

Airborne Scholarship Association

The Airborne Scholarship Association offers merit-based undergraduate school scholarships for dependent family members of veterans, active-duty and Army civilians from nondivisional units of the 18th Airborne Corps who have served in those units since Sept. 11, 2001.

Deadline: March 31.

MAC/AUSA

The Military Affairs Council of the Fayetteville Regional Chamber has a scholarship program in conjunction with the Association of the U.S. Army's Braxton Bragg Chapter.

Deadline: Must be received no later than noon April 8.

State Veterans' Children's Scholarships

The N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs manages a scholarship for children of certain categories of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/MIA veterans.

Automatic scholarships go to children of veterans who died during wartime service or from a service-connected wartime disability or of veterans who are 100 percent disabled because of wartime disability or were a POW/MIA.

Application: Available at the Cumberland County Veterans Services Office in the Department of Social Services building at 1225 Ramsey St. and veterans services offices in other counties.

MOAA

The Military Officers Association of America Educational Assistance Programs offers scholarships and interest-free loans.

Online application: Go to moaa.org/education.

Families First

Our Family for Families First Foundation offers educational grants.

Applications available: ourfamilyfoundation.org.

Contact: info@ourfamilyfoundation.org or 401-228-2836 with any questions about eligibility or the application process.

Deadlines: The deadline for the educational grants is May 9.
