Property News - New retirement homes for sale in Hampshire ...

Moving 200 miles can seem a bit daunting , but when it's to be close to your family, it seems worth it. Providing the development you're moving to is nice, that is.

Derbyshire couple Brenda and John Weeks recently moved to a new two-bedroom apartment at Bramshott Place Village in Hampshire, winner of a prestigious What House? Award for Best Retirement Development in 2010. Their flat is actually in the Clubhouse, with the pool and gym close at hand.

John and Brenda Weeks"John actually swims every day and uses the gym too," Brenda explains. "He's even signed up for table tennis. I get in there a few times a week myself."

The couple, pictured right, moved south to be closer to their daughter. "We no longer have family in the Derbyshire area, so we decided to make the move. We started looking at traditional bungalows in and around Liphook, but then I saw Bramshott Place Village in a SAGA magazine, and we thought we'd take a look."

There's also a local shop, a cleaning service and laundry service and a library and bar on the site, which does a cracking Sunday lunch...

"We have no regrets about moving," says Brenda. "Everyone here is really nice, and we've made new friends. The drive to Derbyshire was getting a bit much for us. Plus now we're local, we see much more of our grandchildren - all four of them - which we love."
